The Xin Rong Ji in Shenzhen is located inside Ping An Finance Center, offering two distinct entrances that lead to the main dining area and the Private Dining Rooms. What sets Xin Rong Ji Shenzhen apart for me are the tasteful interior and the serene ambiance of the PDR area. In my experience, Xin Rong Ji in Shenzhen offers cuisine that surpasses that of Hong Kong in quality and is approximately 30% more budget-friendly, accompanied by notably better service — attentive and sincere.

What To Order

Among the standout dishes at Xin Rong Ji are the stinky tofu, fried fish fillet, yellow croaker, pigeon, crab tofu soup, sea anemone noodles, and the fresh vegetables. I have noticed that the vegetables at in China offer a far fresher flavour profile; they tend to be sweeter and greener compared to those in Hong Kong.

It had been nearly six months since my last meal at Xin Rong Ji Shenzhen, and as I write this review, memories of the crispy, mouth-watering tofu and the soul-soothing crab tofu soup linger in my thoughts. The distinctive flavour of the beans used in the tofu adds a memorable touch. Apart from vegetables, I consistently observe a notable contrast in the bean flavours between China and Hong Kong; in China, the flavours are more pronounced and organic, whereas in Hong Kong, where most ingredients are (probably) imported, it is uncommon to find tofu with such distinct bean flavours.

One Tip!

A little tip for Xin Rong Ji Shenzhen: When securing a reservation at Xin Rong Ji Shenzhen, mentioning a birthday celebration enhances the experience. This gesture prompts the staff at Xin Rong Ji to present you with an off-menu delicacy—lobster bisque noodles served as 生日壽麵. This dish is truly outstanding, particularly when paired with the thick biang biang noodles that I adore.

Last Bites

Value for Money: 8.5/10. I visited Xin Rong Ji in Shenzhen twice in May. On one occasion, we indulged in seafood paired with champagne and wine, resulting in a bill of about RMB2500 per person. However, during the other visit, with less seafood and no alcohol, the cost was around RMB600 per person. I consider this pricing to be highly competitive, considering the quality of service and culinary offerings. While Xin Rong Ji in general is consider on the pricier side, if ever I crave Xin Rong Ji, I would happily make the trip across the border for the Shenzhen experience over heading to Wanchai haha
