My first experience with Beijing’s culinary offerings left me thoroughly impressed, particularly by Country Kitchen 乡味小厨‘s Biang Biang noodles.

Biang Biang noodles is an absolute must-try for noods lover.

A close friend of mine, who’s been to Country Kitchen 乡味小厨 multiple times, acted as my culinary guide and expertly curated our selections from the menu. To beat the summer heat, the lychee soda was an incredibly refreshing choice. My personal favourite undoubtedly goes to the Biang Biang noodles – a spicy thick noodles, not only spicy but also has a substantial and succulent texture, al dente with strike a perfect balance of chili flavours, providing a pleasant kick without overwhelming those with a low spice tolerance like mine. Zha Jiang Mian was also very good, I much prefer the distinct texture of northern noodles, thicker and chewier compared to their southern counterparts. Highly recommend the beef cake as well, it was very juicy and delish! Other than taste, the experience of seeing the chefs make the noodles in front of you from scratch is fun and enjoyable. Ohhh! Yangrou Chuan (Lamb Skewer) was sooooo yumz as well, juice, tender and very lamb-y which I like!

During my time there, I had the opportunity to witness the preparation of Peking Duck over an open flame, a tempting sight accompanied by an equally tantalising aroma. However, my friend advised against ordering it, considering it not quite up to par.

I‘m sincerely grateful for the tips and insight my experienced friend shared, guiding me through the Rosewood Beijing Country Kitchen 鄉味小廚 dining experience to ensure an exceptional time. My gratitude extends to the Rosewood Beijing team as well. Upon our 14:15 check-in, we were informed that our room wasn’t quite ready. Immediately we wanted to check out Country Kitchen 鄉味小廚’s offering. Yet, just as we discovered that the kitchen had closed at 2 pm, the concierge saved the day. With exceptional kindness, he managed to coax Country Kitchen into reopening briefly to whip up a quick meal. This thoughtful gesture set the tone for my stay at Rosewood Beijing, beginning on a cheerful and delectable note.

Value For Money: Solid 9 out of 10! It was approximately RMB300 per person, roughly equivalent to HKD330. While the noodles and cake were reasonably priced and undoubtedly scrumptious, the lychee soda caught me off guard at around RMB80 for a soda. Still, when compared to prices in Hong Kong, it remains a commendable value.
